Nine questions cover almost everything people ask. If yours is not here, write to us and we will answer it, and probably add it to this page.
Is it really free, and how?
Yes. Every part of Skarb is free, including scanning receipts and the rest of the AI-assisted entry. There is nothing held back and nothing to buy.
The honest answer to how it is paid for: Skarb is a personal project by its developer, and the running costs are absorbed. There are no plans to change that. There are no ads, and we do not sell anything about you to anyone.
Does it connect to my bank?
No, and it is not planned. Skarb has no connection to any bank or card provider, and nothing is pulled from an account automatically.
You add transactions yourself, and the app makes that fast rather than automatic: photograph the receipt, type one line such as coffee 3.20 yesterday, or say it out loud. If your bank sends you an SMS for each payment, paste it in and it becomes a draft.
Is there an Android or web version?
No, and neither is planned. Skarb runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon Macs, which run the iPad app. It needs iOS 26.5 or later.
If you share a workspace with someone on Android, they cannot join. That is a real limit and it is worth knowing before you invite them.
How do I share a workspace, and what can each role do?
As the owner, open the workspace, go to Members, and send an invitation. The person you invite installs the app, signs in with Apple, Google or email, opens the link, and joins that workspace. Your other workspaces stay private.
There are three roles. An owner runs the workspace: they invite people, set roles and decide who sees what. An editor adds and edits transactions, budgets and the other money records they can see. A viewer reads and changes nothing. Most changes any of you make carry a name and a time in the activity feed. Balance changes and money moved in or out of a savings goal are not in it.
Can I hide parts of a workspace from someone?
Yes. The role is only half of it. For each member, the owner also picks which sections that person can see: Transactions, Budgets, Balances, Savings, Reports and Activity.
Membership alone does not grant sight of the money. An editor limited to Transactions can add expenses and sees nothing else, no balances and no reports. You can change this at any time and it takes effect immediately.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
It is deleted. Delete your account from inside the app and your profile, every workspace you own, their transactions, budgets, balances, savings goals and history, and your attachments are removed. What you added to someone else's workspace stays there, credited to "Deleted account". This cannot be undone and there is no grace period.
One thing to know before you press it: a workspace you own and share with other people goes with you. If the others should keep it, transfer ownership to one of them first and wait for them to accept. The privacy policy has the full detail.
Which currencies are supported, and where do the rates come from?
Any of the world's currencies, on any transaction. Each workspace has one base currency so that your totals are comparable, and a transaction recorded in another currency is converted for those totals.
The rate used is the rate on the day of the transaction, fetched from a public exchange-rate service and cached on your device. Offline, the app uses the nearest rate it has and marks it cached. The rate is stored on the transaction and you can edit it, which matters if your bank charged you a different one. Once stored, it is never silently recalculated, so what you recorded last March stays what you recorded last March. The one exception is a base-currency change, which the owner confirms: it converts every transaction again and replaces rates you typed.
What is the 500 MB storage for?
Attachments. You can put up to five photos, scans or PDFs on a transaction, and those files need somewhere to live. Each person gets 500 MB.
A receipt photo is usually a few hundred KB once the app has resized it, so 500 MB is roughly a thousand receipts. Inside the app, the Storage screen in Profile shows what is using the space and lets you clear what you no longer need. This is a storage limit, not something you can or need to buy more of.
How do I get help?
Write to support@skarb-budget.com. It is read by the person who builds the app.
To get a useful answer in one reply rather than three, include your device and its iOS, iPadOS or macOS version, which language the app is in, and what you expected to happen instead of what did. A screenshot helps more than a description of a screen.
