Terms of use

Last updated 18 October 2026

The short version

This summary is not the agreement. The sections below are.

  • Skarb is free. There is nothing to buy and there are no ads.
  • Skarb records numbers you type. It is not a bank, it does not move money and it does not give financial advice.
  • What you put in Skarb stays yours. You let us store it and show it to you and to the people you share a workspace with, and nothing more.
  • Do not use Skarb to break the law, to upload what is not yours to upload, or to get into other people's accounts.
  • The app is offered as it is. Check what AI-assisted entry fills in before you tap Add, and link a sign-in method so you can get your account back.
  • You can delete your account at any time from inside the app.

Accepting these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Oleksii Volkov, the individual developer based in Ukraine who builds and runs Skarb. "We", "us" and "our" mean him, and "you" means the person using Skarb. The terms cover the Skarb app and the website skarb-budget.com.

By installing or using Skarb you accept these terms and the privacy policy, which explains what happens to your personal data. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. There is nothing to sign or tick: using Skarb is the acceptance.

You get Skarb from the Apple App Store, and your licence to install and use the app is granted under Apple's standard end user licence agreement. These terms add to that licence. Where the two conflict about the licence itself, Apple's agreement applies.

What Skarb is

Skarb is an app for recording money you enter yourself: what you spend and earn, budgets, balances, savings goals, and the workspaces you share with other people.

Skarb is not a bank, a payment service or a financial adviser. It does not move money, it does not connect to any bank, and it does not give financial advice. The numbers in it are the numbers you put there.

Totals, budget figures, converted amounts and reports are calculated from what you entered and from the exchange rates the app has. They are a picture of your own records, not a statement from a bank, and they are not on their own a basis for tax, accounting or legal decisions.

Cost

Skarb is free. There is nothing to buy, now or later, and no part of the app is held back. There are no ads, no tips and no donations, and your data is never sold. The only cost to you is your own internet connection.

Being free also means we do not promise to keep every feature running forever. We may change, limit or stop a feature, for example to keep AI-assisted entry affordable for everyone, and when a change takes something away we say so in the release notes.

Your account

When you first open Skarb you can continue as a guest, with an anonymous account that has no name and no email, or sign in with Apple, Google or email. A guest can link Sign in with Apple, Google or an email address at any time. A linked sign-in method is what lets you use Skarb on a second device, get your account back and share a workspace.

An anonymous account that was never linked cannot be recovered. If you lose or reset the device, or delete the app, that account and everything in it are out of reach for good, and we cannot get them back for you. If your records matter to you, link a sign-in method.

You are responsible for keeping access to your account: your device and its passcode, and the email address, Apple ID or Google account you sign in with. If you think someone else has got into your account, write to us straight away.

You must be at least 16 to use Skarb on your own. If you are under 16, you may use it only with a parent's or guardian's consent, for example in a workspace they invite you to, and they are responsible for that use.

Acceptable use

You may not:

  • use Skarb to break the law;
  • upload content you have no right to upload, such as another person's documents without their permission;
  • upload malware, or anything designed to damage or interfere with a device or system;
  • try to get into another person's account, into a workspace you were not invited to, or past the sections your access covers;
  • use a display name to pass yourself off as someone else;
  • try to disrupt, overload or reverse engineer the app, its servers or the services it relies on, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms;
  • automate access to Skarb at a scale that degrades it for other people, or use AI-assisted entry for anything other than entering your own transactions;
  • copy, resell or redistribute the app, or offer it as part of a service of your own.

Your content

Your transactions, notes, categories, budgets, balances, savings goals and attachments are yours. We claim no ownership of them.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, sync it between your devices, and show it to you and to the people you share a workspace with, within the access you give them. We do not use your content for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train AI models. When you use AI-assisted entry, the receipt photo or text you send goes to OpenAI to produce a draft, as the privacy policy describes.

You must have the right to upload what you upload. You can attach up to five photos, scans or PDFs to a transaction, up to 10 MB each, and everything you attach counts towards a 500 MB allowance per person across all your workspaces. The allowance is the same for everyone. The Storage screen in Profile lists every file you have stored and lets you delete them, and when a file would take you over 500 MB, you free up space there before you attach it.

Skarb is not an archive. Do not keep the only copy of a document you are legally required to keep in it.

Shared workspaces

A workspace is shared only with the people its owner invites, by an invite code or link that works for seven days and can be revoked at any time.

The owner of a workspace decides who is in it, each member's role (owner, editor or viewer) and which of its six sections each member can see: Transactions, Budgets, Balances, Savings, Reports and Activity. Inviting someone means they see what you gave them access to, and an editor can change and delete the records in the sections they can see, including yours. If you join a workspace someone else owns, the owner can change your role or access, or remove you, at any time. When you leave, the entries you made stay in the workspace, under your name and marked as a former member's.

Members are responsible for what they do in a shared workspace. A disagreement between members about the money recorded in it is between them: we do not settle it, and we do not restore records a member deleted.

Deleting your account deletes the workspaces you own, for every member. If the others should keep a workspace, hand ownership to one of them first (Workspace Settings, then Members) and wait for them to accept. The steps are on the support page.

Services we rely on

Skarb runs on services from other companies. Each provides its part under its own terms, and those terms apply to that part:

  • Google Cloud Firestore stores your data, and Firebase Authentication handles sign-in.
  • Cloud Storage for Firebase stores the files you attach to transactions.
  • Cloud Functions for Firebase run Skarb's few server tasks: sending activity notifications and deleting accounts and workspaces.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple's push notification service deliver push notifications, and Firebase Hosting serves the website and invite links.
  • OpenAI turns a receipt photo or a typed or dictated sentence into a draft transaction.
  • Frankfurter, a public rate service, supplies exchange rates.
  • Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In handle those sign-in methods, if you link them.
  • The Apple App Store distributes the app.

What each service receives is set out in the privacy policy. If one of them is unavailable or changes, the part of Skarb that depends on it may stop working until it is back or replaced.

Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Skarb, its content or its support. Questions and claims about Skarb come to us, not to Apple.

No warranty

Skarb is offered as it is and as available, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

We do not guarantee that the app is free of errors, that it is available at all times, that an exchange rate shown is the rate your bank used, or that a draft produced from a receipt or a sentence is correct. Check what the app fills in before you tap Add.

The app changes from release to release, and features can be added, changed or removed.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:

  • indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit or a missed opportunity;
  • lost or corrupted data, including records or files deleted by you, by another member of a workspace, or by a failure of one of the services above;
  • decisions you make using the numbers in the app, including a converted amount or a draft produced by AI-assisted entry;
  • loss caused by someone using your device or your account, or by events outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Nothing in them takes away rights you have as a consumer that the law of the country you live in does not allow to be waived.

Ending it

You can stop using Skarb whenever you like. To delete your account and your data, open Profile & Account and tap Delete Account; what is deleted is described in the privacy policy. If you never linked a sign-in method, Exit on Profile & Account deletes the anonymous account and its data the same way.

We may suspend or end your access if you break the Acceptable use section, or if the law requires us to. Where it is practical, we tell you why.

If we decide to stop running Skarb altogether, we announce it in the app at least 30 days before the service ends, and in that time you can ask us for a copy of your data.

When your access ends, the sections Your content (for content already shared with other members), No warranty, Limitation of liability and Governing law continue to apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Ukraine. If a dispute comes up, write to us first and we will try to settle it with you directly. If that does not work, the competent courts of Ukraine decide it.

If you use Skarb as a consumer and live outside Ukraine, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim in the courts there where that law gives you the right to.

Changes and contact

The date at the top moves whenever the text changes. A material change is announced in the app's release notes and takes effect no earlier than the release it ships with. If you keep using Skarb after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the app and delete your account.

These terms, the privacy policy and Apple's licence agreement are the whole agreement between you and us about Skarb. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies, and if we do not enforce a term straight away, we have not given up the right to. These terms are written in English; if a translation is ever published, the English text applies where the two differ.

For anything in these terms, write to support@skarb-budget.com. We answer in English or Ukrainian.
